Northeast Georgia Bank, we’re proud to say that the spirit of community banking lives on! We make the effort to really “know” you as a customer and to help you find the right financial solutions.
Our story began in 1906 with the founding of Vickery National Bank in Lavonia, Georgia, by C. W. Vickery and other investors. The bank was sold in 1909 to Walter N. Harrison and another group of investors, and the name was changed to First National Bank of Lavonia.
In 1940, the bank was re-chartered as a State Bank and renamed Northeast Georgia Bank. In 1968, the bank was acquired by the Whitworth family, who envisioned a community-based bank that would serve a wider market area.
The Whitworth family modified the bank’s ownership structure in 1983, creating a holding company, First Security Bankshares, Inc. Today, with our headquarters still in Lavonia, Northeast Georgia Bank comprises 11 offices serving six counties, including Franklin, Hart, Elbert, Stephens, Banks and Jackson.
We look forward to many more years as a leading financial institution committed to making a difference in the great communities we serve. From financing homes to business expansions, we intend to continue making that difference—one customer at a time. That’s our definition of community banking.
We cordially invite you to experience Northeast Georgia Bank, where service is our first priority, and our customers are recognized as the source of our success.
Northeast Georgia Bank. People you know. Experience you can trust.
